Overview of the Strikes
The United States has launched unprecedented military strikes on three of Iran's key nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. These facilities were targeted using bunker-busting bombs and Tomahawk missiles, aiming to set back Iran’s nuclear development program.
Fordow
The Fordow facility, located deep underground, was hit by multiple GBU-57 bombs. Satellite images show large surface craters, but experts say full damage assessment is ongoing due to the depth of the facility.
Natanz
Natanz, Iran’s largest uranium enrichment site, received heavy missile fire. Imagery shows major surface damage, but it’s unclear if key infrastructure was destroyed.
Isfahan
In Isfahan, over 18 structures were reported destroyed. Analysts believe the site may have stored advanced centrifuges or enriched uranium.
Global Reactions
President Trump called the strikes a “spectacular military success.” However, analysts and former intelligence officials warn this may escalate tensions in the region and push Iran to rebuild with greater secrecy and speed.
What Comes Next?
- Potential retaliatory strikes by Iran or its proxies.
- Strait of Hormuz tensions that could affect global oil markets.
- UN and global diplomatic emergency meetings expected.
